Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking a General Maintenance Engineer for a specialist manufacturer of automotive oils, lubricants and cleaners based near Romford. You’ll maintain and repair production equipment, focusing on reducing downtime and keeping mixing and filling lines running smoothly.

This hands-on role is workshop-based with a 08:00–16:30 shift, Monday to Friday. Applicants should have mechanical maintenance experience, fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical maintenance experience.
• Strong fault finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience maintaining industrial machinery or production equipment.
• Mechanical engineering background desirable.
• Experience with pumps, motors, machinery or processing equipment beneficial.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance on oil and lubricant production equipment.
• Perform fault finding, repair and preventative maintenance of mixing and filling machines and tanks.
• Minimise production downtime through mechanical maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a range of machinery.
• Carry out pump maintenance, servicing and repair.
• Assist with installation, improvement and modification of equipment.
• Support general site maintenance tasks and maintain a safe working environment.

General Maintenance Engineer required for a specialist manufacturer of automotive oils, lubricants and cleaners.

Due to continued success and growth, they are looking to recruit a General Maintenance Engineer to support the upkeep, repair and improvement of their production equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a range of mixing, filling and processing machinery, ensuring equipment remains operational and downtime is minimised.

This is a hands‑on workshop-based role, ideal for a mechanically minded engineer with experience in maintenance, fault finding and repair. The role would suit someone who enjoys working with a variety of machinery and being involved in practical engineering solutions.

The ideal candidate will have previous maintenance experience, a relevant engineering background and be based within commutable distance of Romford.

General Maintenance Engineer Position Overview
