Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust seeks a General Maintenance Assistant to join the Estates and Facilities team at Musgrove Park Hospital. You will perform routine planned preventive maintenance tasks, assist multi-skilled staff, and ensure safety policies are followed.

Applicants should have basic ICT skills, a current UK driving licence, and relevant NVQ2/3 or vocational maintenance qualification, with healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Essential basic ICT skills and good literacy in English.
• Relevant NVQ2/3 or vocational maintenance qualification.
• Experience in site maintenance, preferably in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• To perform routine planned preventive maintenance work requiring basic skills (including labouring) as needed.
• To understand and adhere to the Trust Health and Safety Policies e.g., Fire Safety Policy and SOPs.
• To undertake any training required for PPM programmes (Emergency light testing, Water safety, minor door repairs).
• Previous site maintenance experience preferably within a large organisation and healthcare environment.
• Experience of electrical, mechanical services (emergency light testing, water testing/legionella sampling) and driving licence.

Are you a motivated and driven individual with a background in maintenance? Our teams are vital in ensuring that our Hospital is a safe and pleasant environment for our patients and staff. We are looking for a General Maintenance Assistant to join our dedicated and hardworking team at Musgrove Park Hospital. This role offers a Recruitment and Retention Payment of £2000 per year.

• To perform routine planned preventative maintenance work requiring basic skills (including labouring) as needed. This will include co-operating and assist with multi-skilled maintenance staff to complete tasks safely and in a timely manner.
• To understand and adhere to the Trust Health and Safety Policies e.g., Fire Safety Policy and Departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
• To undertake any training required to undertake planned preventative maintenance programmes (PPM) this may include: Emergency light testing, Water safety/mechanical tasks, Minor door repairs/replacements such as handles, locks, signs etc
• Previous site maintenance experience preferably within a large organisation., Have experience of working in a healthcare environment
• Experience of electrical, mechanical services e.g., emergency light testing, water testing/ legionella sampling etc. replacing door furniture. Working knowledge of health and safety policies, infection control and work procedures, Evidence of a good standard of literacy/English language skills, spoken and written Full UK Driving License
• Essential Basic Level ICT Relevant NVQ level 2/3 or Vocational maintenance qualification.
• Desirable Relevant certificated training in the use of power tools
• Desirable Relevant certificated training in COSHH
