Job description

Join to apply for the General Foreman (Civils) role at SISK Group.

John Sisk & Son are seeking a General Foreman for their Derby Riverside scheme. The role reports to the Contracts Manager and collaborates closely with the Quantity Surveyor. Responsibilities include managing the onsite programme, ensuring quality workmanship and safety, and coordinating resources such as labor, plant, materials, and subcontractors in line with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Establish and monitor key stage programmes
  2. Set up the site, maintain security, and ensure a professional appearance
  3. Coordinate trades activities and take site possession
  4. Apply for necessary connections and interpret drawings to guide site personnel
  5. Complete method statements and risk assessments for high-risk activities
  6. Coordinate with the professional team for approvals and information
  7. Review buildability and suggest advantageous construction methods
  8. Implement environmental controls in collaboration with the Environmental Co-ordinator
  9. Attend meetings, circulate notes, and track actions
  10. Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and third parties
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • At least ten years of experience in construction management with a similar contractor
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proactive planning and time management abilities
  • Experience with flood defense schemes is desirable
  • First Aid at Work certificate
  • IOSH or equivalent HSE management training
  • Knowledge of Temporary Works & Excavation Safety, Permitting, Working at Heights, Scaffolding, Lifting & Cranage operations, and other HSE training as per site plan
