Job Title: General Cover Teacher (QTS)
Location: Banbury (Oxfordshire)
Start Date: November 2026
Salary: £180 - £260 per day

Are you an adaptable and experienced teacher who can confidently step into different classrooms and deliver pre-planned lessons?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a mainstream Secondary School based in Oxford. The school provides a supportive learning environment with a focus on maintaining high expectations, promoting positive behaviour and encouraging students to engage positively with their education.

The school is looking for an experienced General Cover Teacher on a long-term basis, with flexible day-to-day work also available. The successful General Cover Teacher will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons across a variety of secondary subjects, managing classroom behaviour effectively and ensuring students remain focused and engaged with their learning across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4.

The successful General Cover Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
• Previous teaching experience within a UK secondary school setting
• Confidence teaching and delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary school subjects
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively
• Strong IT skills, including confidence using interactive whiteboards, school systems and digital learning resources
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a flexible, reliable and proactive approach
