Job summary

Holroyd Howe, a leading UK contract caterer delivering services to Elstree School, is seeking a General Catering Assistant. You will help with day-to-day food and service delivery, ensuring high-quality, nutritious meals with care and efficiency.

Role is term-time, 20–25 hours per week, with shifts around 12:00–15:00 on most weekdays, and occasional overtime for events. A car is helpful due to the rural location.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation, service, and presentation of food to a high standard.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen and service areas.
• Assist with food labelling, temperature checks, and allergen controls.
• Provide excellent customer service to pupils, staff, and visitors.
• Set up and clear service areas, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
• Follow all food safety, health & safety, and safeguarding procedures.
• Contribute to hospitality events and occasional out-of-hours functions.

Contract Type: Term-time, 35 weeks per year (salary spread evenly over 12 months)

£12.71 per hour

Hours:

20-25 hours per week

Working Pattern: Various shifts on a rota. Candidates will need to be available between

12:00pm and 3:00pm on most weekdays, plus

Overtime: Occasional overtime available for events.
