Job summary

Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership is seeking a General Catering Assistant to provide kitchen cover across schools in the Frome area. The role is part-time, 15 hours per week during term time, with some inset days. You will help prepare meals, serve pupils, maintain hygiene, and support events as needed.

The successful candidate will be friendly, reliable, and able to work across different school locations, joining a supportive catering team committed to healthy meals for children.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of meals, sandwiches, salads and other food items.
• Supporting the cooking of simple food items including vegetables and basic meal preparation.
• Serving food and providing excellent customer service to pupils and staff.
• Setting up and clearing dining areas.
• Operating kitchen equipment, dishwashers and cashless catering tills (training provided).
• Washing crockery, utensils and kitchen equipment.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.
• Recording food and appliance temperatures and supporting food safety procedures.
• Loading and delivering prepared meals to local schools using a school catering vehicle.
• Supporting catering for school events, meetings and functions.
• Working flexibly across different school kitchens to provide essential catering cover.
