Job summary

MEL Environmental Solutions Ltd is seeking a General Builder to join our on-site team in Newport. This permanent, full-time role focuses on delivering high-standard restoration work for insurance and environmental projects.

You will lead on-site teams, apply wide-ranging construction skills from brickwork to drainage, operate mini diggers, and travel to various project sites while collaborating with Project Managers to ensure timely, safe delivery.

Qualifications

• A multi-skilled construction professional capable of taking charge and inspiring others.
• Strong organisational and planning skills to manage day-to-day site activities.
• A clean driving license and a readiness to hit the road.
• Ability to drive & operate a mini digger/dumper (essential).
• Willingness to travel and work away as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate teams on-site to deliver projects efficiently and to a high standard.
• Apply multi-skilled construction expertise from bricklaying to underpinning, concreting and drainage.
• Operate machinery like mini diggers and dumpers on site.
• Mix concrete, demolish, dig and restore properties to their original condition.
• Use tools from demolition hammers to jigsaws with safety PPE and HAVS controls.
• Travel to project sites and work closely with Project Managers.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and coordinate teams on-site to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standard.
• Bring your multi-skilled construction expertise to life – from bricklaying to underpinning, concreting, drainage, and more.
• Operate machinery like mini diggers and dumpers
• Mix concrete, demolish, dig, and restore residential properties to their original condition
• Get hands-on with tools, from demolition hammers to jigsaws (we’ve got the latest gear, and we prioritise your safety with PPE and HAVS controls).
• Travel to project sites
• Work closely with our Project Managers
