Job summary

SmartRecruiters, Inc. is seeking a General Assistant to support dining services in an education setting. The role focuses on preparing and serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food safety during busy mealtimes.

Ideal candidates will have a flexible, team-oriented attitude, good organisa tion skills, and an interest in education catering. This term-time position includes occasional evening events with benefits such as pension and life insurance, and free meals while at work.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing roles is helpful.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices is advantageous.
• Able to work term-time with occasional evenings.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and serving of lunch and snacks per menus and recipes.
• Keep front-of-house areas clean and tidy, organise dishes and utensils.
• Clean back-of-house areas, wash, sweep and mop floors.
• Follow cleaning rotas, safety policies and procedures for a safe workplace.
• Follow proper food handling and storage to ensure safety and prevent contamination.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies to management.
• Provide friendly service to students and staff during meals, accommodating dietary needs.
• Attend training sessions on food service procedures and customer service standards.
• Complete all mandatory training within set time scales.

Job Description

As aGeneral Assistantyou will…

• Assist in the preparation and serving of lunch, and snacks according to established menus and recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness of the front of house areas including organising dishes and utensils.
• Maintain the cleanliness also back of house including washing up, sweeping and mopping.
• To follow cleaning rotas, health and safety, and other policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Following proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure food safety and prevent contamination.
• Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
• Provide friendly and efficient service to students and staff during mealtimes, addressing any concerns or special dietary needs.
• Participate in training sessions and meeting related to food service procedures, safety protocols, and customer service standards.
• To complete all mandatory training and courses within the set time scales.

Qualifications

• Ideally have experience working within Education catering but not essential.
• Have good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Flexible with a can-do attitude, customer focused.
• Fun and enthusiastic
• Have excellent organization skills.
