Job summary

Holroyd Howe is seeking a General Assistant to join our education catering team. You will assist in preparing and serving lunches, help maintain high standards of cleanliness in front and back of house, and contribute to a safe, welcoming dining environment for students and staff.

The role is term-time with occasional evening events, offering bespoke training and development, plus perks such as free meals, pension and life insurance, and employee wellbeing resources.

Qualifications

• Experience in education catering is a plus but not essential.
• Adheres to health and safety policies and procedures.
• Completes mandatory training within set time scales.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of lunches and snacks according to menus.
• Maintain cleanliness of front of house and back of house areas.
• Follow cleaning rotas and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.
• Handle food hygiene practices to prevent contamination.

Job description

• Assist in the preparation and serving of lunch, and snacks according to established menus and recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness of the front of house areas including organising dishes and utensils.
• Maintain the cleanliness also back of house including washing up, sweeping and mopping.
• To follow cleaning rotas, health and safety, and other policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Following proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure food safety and prevent contamination.
• Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
• Provide friendly and efficient service to students and staff during mealtimes, addressing any concerns or special dietary needs.
• Participate in training sessions and meeting related to food service procedures, safety protocols, and customer service standards.
• To complete all mandatory training and courses within the set time scales.
  Ideally have experience working within Education catering but not essential.
• Have good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Flexible with a can-do attitude, customer focused.
