Job summary

Northumberland County Council is recruiting for a General Assistant/Cook on maternity cover at Tynedale House. The role is part-time (17.5 hours per week) with 5.5-hour shifts from 8:00 to 13:30 on a 2-week rota (Mon, Tue, Sat, Sun; Wed, Thu, Fri).

The starting rate is £13.28 per hour, with enhancements for weekend and bank holiday hours. The post requires a basic food hygiene certificate, knowledge of catering equipment, Health and Safety, and Manual Handling training.

Qualifications

• Basic food hygiene certificate required.
• Knowledge of catering tools and equipment.

• Training in Manual Handling is required.
• Experience in kitchen operations and cooking.
• Willingness to learn and prepare meals for specialised diets.

Do you want to be part of a team that makes a real difference to the residents of Northumberland?

Tynedale House is a residential home rated Outstanding by CQC and provides excellent support and care to people with learning disabilities in both residential and respite settings.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our catering team as a cook.

You must have a basic food hygiene certificate and knowledge of the tasks and operation of catering tools and equipment.

Knowledge of Health and Safety and training in Manual Handling is also required.

Additional training and support will be offered to any successful candidate.

You should have relevant experience of working in a kitchen to include food preparation, cooking and be willing to learn to/and prepare meals for specialised diets.

This is a fixed term position for 17.5 hours per week.

This post is based on a shift pattern, working 5.5 hour shifts from 8am- 13.30pm (30 minute lunch break), on 2-week rota:

• Week one: Mon, Tues, Sat, Sun


• Week two: Wed, Thur, Fri

Enhancements are payable on this rota for weekend and bank holiday hours worked.
