Job summary

Northumberland County Council's Tynedale House, Blyth, is seeking a General Assistant/Cook for maternity cover, part-time 17.5 hours per week. The role includes food preparation, cooking and supporting residents in a care setting.

A basic food hygiene certificate, knowledge of health and safety, and manual handling training are required. The position offers weekend and bank holiday enhancements and a starting hourly rate of £13.28.

Qualifications

• You must have a basic food hygiene certificate and knowledge of the tasks and operation of catering tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and training in Manual Handling is also required.
• Experience in kitchen work including food preparation and cooking; able to handle specialised diets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals for residents and assist with dietary requirements.
• Work 5.5 hour shifts on a 2-week rota (8:00–13:30) with a 30 minute lunch break.
• Enhance hours on weekends/bank holidays as applicable.

Tynedale House is a residential home rated Outstanding by CQC and provides excellent support and care to people with learning disabilities in both residential and respite settings.
Weare looking for anenthusiastic and passionate individual to join our cateringteam as a cook.

You must have

• A basic food hygiene certificate and knowledge of the tasks and operation of catering tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and training in Manual Handling is alsorequired.

Additional training and support will be offered to any successful candidate.

You should have relevant experience of working in a kitchen to include food preparation, cooking and be willing to learn to/and prepare meals for specialised diets.

This is a fixed term position for 17.5 hours per week.
This post is based on a shift pattern, working 5.5 hour shifts from 8am- 13.30pm (30 miunte lunch break), on 2-week rota:
Week one:Mon, Tues, Sat, Sun
Week two:Wed, Thur, Fri
Enhancements are payable on this rota for weekend and bank holiday hours worked.
