Job summary

DiverseJobsMatter is seeking an English Teaching Assistant for a further education college in the United Kingdom. You will support GCSE English and Functional Skills English students through one-to-one and small-group sessions, helping them build confidence and exam skills.

The role is full-time, term-time only (36 weeks), with duties including monitoring progress, providing feedback to staff, supervising classes, and assisting with set tasks.

Qualifications

• Recent UK experience supporting both individual students and small groups.
• Experience with GCSE English and Functional Skills English.
• Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
• Ability to encourage students and develop confidence and exam skills.
• Experience working with students aged 16-18.
• Experience supporting young people with English.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support in GCSE English and Functional Skills English.
• Help students build confidence and develop their English and exam skills.
• Use motivational learning techniques to encourage engagement and progress.
• Monitor student performance and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Supervise classes undertaking pre-set work during lecturer absence.
• Assist students with completing tasks and check work is done correctly.
• Provide teaching staff with feedback on student progress.
