Job summary

Remedy Tutors in Derby is seeking a patient, engaging tutor to provide tailored 1:1 GCSE English and Maths tuition to a Year 11 student in Derby.

You will deliver personalised sessions, identify learning gaps, and adapt your approach to help the student progress toward their GCSE goals. Hours vary from 2–10 per week with flexibility, including potential online sessions and placements in homes, libraries, or schools.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering GCSE English and/or Maths.
• Identify learning gaps and adapt lessons to individual needs.
• Be patient, encouraging and capable of building positive relationships.
• Can commit to regular sessions and travel to placements where required.
• Relevant teaching qualifications and experience with secondary-aged learners are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 GCSE sessions.
• Adapt lessons to the student’s needs.
• Help the student rebuild subject knowledge and confidence ahead of GCSEs.
• Travel to placements or teach online as required.
• Maintain records and track progress of the student.

Remedy Tutors is looking for a patient, engaging tutor to provide tailored 1:1 GCSE English and Maths tuition to a Year 11 student in Derby.

The student has experienced a significant gap in formal education and needs support to rebuild subject knowledge, address learning gaps and regain confidence ahead of her GCSEs.

You'll deliver personalised sessions, adapting your approach to the student's needs and helping her make meaningful progress towards her educational goals.

Hours will range from 2-10 per week, depending on the support required and the agreed timetable.

More than traditional classroom teaching

Alongside this opportunity, Remedy Tutors offers a variety of flexible tutoring and mentoring roles across Derbyshire.

Depending on the placement, sessions may take place in a student's home, a local library, a community setting, a school or online. Many opportunities involve working 1:1 with young people who benefit from a more flexible, personalised approach outside the traditional classroom.

We also have opportunities supporting learners with SEND, SEMH, gaps in education and other barriers to learning, as well as mentoring, enrichment and creative activities.

What we're looking for
