Job summary

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is seeking a Band 7 nurse to provide senior clinical leadership and operational management within the Gastroenterology ward caring for 20-24 patients, ensuring safe, evidence-based and compassionate nursing care.

They will act as a clinical role model, coordinate assessment, planning and escalation of concerns, and supervise junior staff while promoting professional development and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Qualifications

• Current RN registration with the NMC.
• Evidence of continued academic and clinical development.
• Evidence of continued managerial development including leadership course.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical leadership and operational management within the Gastroenterology ward.
• Coordinate the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised patient care.
• Direct and support junior nursing staff, promote professional accountability and act as a visible role model.
• Lead on recruitment, retention, appraisal, performance management and continuing professional development.
• Promote infection prevention, patient safety and governance, and contribute to audit and quality improvement.
