Job summary

Medway NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Clinical Trust Fellow (ST3+) in Gastroenterology to join a busy hospital team providing inpatient and outpatient care. The role supports ward rounds under consultant supervision and contributes to gastroenterology and hepatology clinics.

The post requires GMC registration, MRCP, and ALS certification with a minimum of three years’ hospital experience in CT-equivalent or higher grades. The Trust values flexibility and professional development.

Qualifications

• Primary Medical Degree and full GMC registration (licence to practise).
• MRCP and ALS certification.
• Minimum three years' full-time hospital service in CT-equivalent or higher grades.
• Experience in teaching and clinical research is desirable.
• Able to manage acutely unwell patients and work across gastroenterology and general medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical care for Gastroenterology and General Medicine patients.
• Participate in consultant-led ward rounds and independently review patients.
• Assess and manage acutely unwell patients and escalate when needed.
• Develop and implement evidence-based management plans for a wide range of conditions.
• Support Gastroenterology and Hepatology outpatient clinics under supervision.
• Perform procedures appropriate to grade and competence.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
• Educate, supervise, and develop junior doctors and medical students.
• Ensure safe handover and maintain governance standards.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, and service development.
