Job summary

Ofgem, Britain’s independent energy regulator, is seeking a Head of Gas System Charging to lead a full-scale reform of the UK gas charging system. You will provide strategic leadership across gas charging and cost recovery, directing a multidisciplinary team and engaging senior stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Significant expertise in charging or cost recovery arrangements within the energy sector.
• Proven track record leading complex regulatory or economic policy.
• Strong stakeholder engagement with Government, industry, and senior leadership.
• Experience of leading high-performing teams and capability development.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills for complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction on gas charging reform.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team and manage delivery across workstreams.
• Engage with key stakeholders to build support for policy outcomes.
• Oversee risks, dependencies and trade-offs in a changing environment.
• Represent Ofgem in cross-sector discussions on network charging and funding.
