Job summary

Cardo Group is seeking a qualified Gas Technical Officer to oversee gas safety and technical matters across our Scotland-based sites and offices. You will ensure compliance, inspect work, and provide evidence-based quality assurance for gas activities performed by internal engineers and subcontractors.

The role requires strong customer service and problem-solving skills, with activity spanning Edinburgh to Inverness.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.
• Experience delivering gas safety compliance in built environment projects.
• Ability to inspect work, identify unsafe conditions and provide risk-based recommendations.
• Excellent communication for clients, colleagues and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Undertake planned, unannounced and risk-based WIP and post-work inspections across gas works.
• Inspect direct labour and subcontractor work, including high-risk tasks.
• Check work against gas safety legislation, Gas Safe requirements and CARDO procedures.
• Verify test, commissioning, flue, combustion, ventilation and certification evidence within scope.
• Identify unsafe situations and escalate as required.
• Record findings with risk rating, photos, reference and deadlines.
• Raise and track corrective actions and re-inspections until close-out.
• Support incidents investigations and root-cause analysis.
