Job summary

Yorkshire Housing is looking for a skilled Gas Engineer to join our team in Barnsley, delivering safe and compliant domestic heating services across our homes. You will perform annual gas services, safety checks and boiler repairs.

You will be supported by a great team and must hold ACS certificates CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1 & CKR1, plus a full UK driving licence. A DBS check may be required for successful applicants.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience servicing and maintaining domestic heating systems.
• ACS Certificates: CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1 & CKR1 (or equivalent).
• Must hold a full UK driving licence; a basic DBS check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out annual gas services, safety checks and boiler repairs and maintenance.
• Work across Barnsley and Yorkshire Housing regions, following regulations and policies.
• Coordinate with the compliance team to ensure safe, high-quality work on first visit whenever possible.

Are you a skilled Gas Engineer looking for a role where your work genuinely makes a difference? Join our fantastic Gas Team at Yorkshire Housing, working mainly in the Barnsley area, though occasionally supporting customers right across Yorkshire—helping keep homes safe and warm.

We’re offering a salary of £42,000 per year (£21.53/hour) for a 37.5-hour week, with opportunities for call-out and overtime to boost your earnings. You’ll enjoy 26 days of annual leave, rising to 31 with service, plus bank holidays. Our benefits package includes:

In this role, you’ll carry out annual gas services, safety checks, and boiler repairs and maintenance across our homes, following all the relevant regulations and Yorkshire Housing policies. You’ll be the friendly face our customers see, so great communication and a warm, professional approach are key. We aim to resolve issues on the first visit wherever possible, and you’ll work closely with our compliance team to make sure everything’s done safely and to a high standard.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Confidence working independently and solving problems
