Reading Borough Council is seeking an experienced Gas Engineer to join the Housing Repairs Team in Reading. The role involves delivering safe gas services to tenants, carrying out routine and emergency repairs, and contributing to energy-efficient homes.

You will be based at Bennet Road depot and participate in out-of-hours call-outs. Gas Safe registration, driving licence, and a customer-focused approach are essential for delivering high-quality service to residents.

Qualifications

• Gas Safe registered with domestic and commercial experience.
• Ability to safely install, maintain and repair gas appliances and heating systems.
• Experience working in occupied properties with a customer-focused mindset.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including out-of-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Assess materials required for jobs and collect from stores or suppliers.
• Complete work orders, job sheets and timesheets accurately.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and site cleanliness.
• Identify additional repair needs where necessary.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
