Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a skilled Plumber to repair, maintain, and install plumbing across Reading’s homes. Based at the Bennet Road depot, you will join a Housing Repairs team delivering essential plumbing services to tenants with a focus on safety and customer care.

You will perform routine and emergency repairs, support residents, and contribute to a flexible on-call rota. A full UK driving licence and City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing are required.

Qualifications

City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing or equivalent
Experience in repairs, maintenance and installation across domestic properties
Experience in occupied properties with a customer-focused approach
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to work flexibly, including out-of-hours emergencies

Responsibilities

Carry out repairs, maintenance and installation work across the borough
Respond to urgent repairs when required and work safely and efficiently
Take part in out-of-hours emergency call-out rota
Ensure work complies with current legislation, safety standards and best practice
Maintain high standards of workmanship and site cleanliness
