Reading Borough Council is seeking an experienced Gas Engineer to join the Housing Repairs Team in Reading. You will be responsible for safe, reliable and energy-efficient gas services for residents, including routine and emergency repairs.
Based at Bennet Road depot, you’ll deliver heating system maintenance, collaborate with a skilled team, and participate in an out-of-hours rota. A full UK driving licence and Gas Safe registration are essential.

Based at our Bennet Road depot in Reading (RG2 0QX), you’ll be part of a skilled, friendly and supportive Housing Repairs team delivering essential gas services to our tenants.
You will carry out both routine and emergency gas repairs safely and efficiently, including:
You will also take part in our out-of-hours emergency call-out rota, helping to support residents when they need it most.
All work will be carried out in line with current legislation, safety standards and Gas Safe requirements.
You are a highly skilled Gas Engineer who takes pride in delivering safe, high-quality work. You have a practical, hands‑on approach and are confident diagnosing and resolving gas issues efficiently.
You’re professional and courteous when working in residents’ homes and able to stay calm, reassuring and empathetic in urgent or challenging situations.
You enjoy working both independently and as part of a team, and you’re committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, workmanship and customer care in everything you do.
