Job summary

LiveWest is seeking a skilled Gas Engineer to maintain and improve properties across the Frome/Glastonbury patch. You will diagnose, repair and service domestic heating systems, ensuring high safety standards and customer satisfaction.

The role is mobile, requiring a near-30 minute commute within the patch and a 40-hour work week. A full UK driving licence and relevant gas qualifications are essential.

Qualifications

  • CCN1 for domestic gas installations and safety.
  • CENWAT1 for boilers and water heaters.
  • CKR1, HTR1 for cookers and heaters within timeframe.
  • LPG qualification and Water Regs WRAS desirable.
  • Unvented hot water and OFTEC qualifications desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair domestic heating systems, fault finding, installation and servicing.
  • Ensure work meets building regulations and safety requirements.
  • Provide professional customer service and safe work practices.
  • Perform periodic testing and installation work per standards.
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures and participate in on-call rota.

Job description

As a Gas Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our properties, ensuring they meet our high standards and customer expectations.

This role is a mobile role, working predominately in the Frome/Glastonbury area.

You will ideally be based within a 30 minute commute of this patch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose and repair domestic heating systems, including fault-finding, installation, and annual servicing.
  • Quality Workmanship: Ensure all work is completed to the highest standard, complying with building regulations and safety requirements.
  • Customer Service: Demonstrate a positive and professional approach to our customers, ensuring the highest standard of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Maintenance and Testing: Perform periodic testing and installation work, ensuring compliance with current best practices and guidelines.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • On-Call Participation: Take part in an out-of-hours on-call structure and attend meetings and training as required.

Skills
  • Post-Qualification Experience: Proven experience in the gas industry, with a strong understanding of responsive maintenance.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing boiler faults, performing annual servicing, and carrying out installation work.
  • Customer Focus: Experience working in customers' homes, demonstrating a professional and positive approach.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: Knowledge of health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • IT Skills: Proficient in the use and application of mobile technology.
  • Driving Licence: A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with LPG and Oil systems is desirable.
Qualifications Required
  • CCN1 (Domestic Core Element).

  • Desirable: CKR1 (Cookers) - Required to complete within a reasonable timeframe after successfully passing the probation period.
  • Desirable: HTR1 (Heaters) - Required to complete within a reasonable timeframe after successfully passing the probation period.

  • Desirable: Part L (Energy Efficiency Qualification)
  • Desirable: Part G (Hot Water Safety and Efficiency)
  • Desirable: Water Regs WRAS

  • Desirable: OFTEC or equivalent (Solid Fuel Qualification)

This role is not eligible for a Cos. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the role without a CoS.
