Job description

Equans is recruiting for a Gas Supervisor based in Kingstanding, Birmingham. This is a permanent full-time role working 42 hours per week, offering a competitive salary and benefits package.

The Gas Supervisor will manage a team of operatives across all trades, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards, with excellent customer care. The role involves acting as a role model and promoting the Equans culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all work at height, including scaffold inspection and management.
  • Carrying out face fit training and maintaining records.
  • Recording accidents, near misses, safety observations, and HIPOs on AIMS.
  • Conducting toolbox talks and recording attendance.
  • Managing absence, updating HR.net and sickness tracker.
  • Investigating incidents and preparing reports.
  • Ensuring teams have the necessary tools and equipment.
  • Monitoring productivity, holding meetings, and implementing performance plans.
  • Performing inspections and recording findings.
  • Conducting one-on-one and PDR meetings.
  • Ensuring mandatory training and supporting ongoing development.
  • Auditing subcontractors and operatives for quality and compliance.
  • Supporting recruitment, inductions, and ordering resources.
  • Managing non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Handling annual leave to maintain workforce consistency.
  • Supporting management of complaints and subcontractor management.
  • Supporting ECO rota coverage and other management tasks.

Candidate requirements:

  • Gas Safe / Electrically Qualified with M&E/Electrical experience (min 2 years)
  • Skilled trade experience, knowledge of building legislation, health & safety legislation
  • Knowledge of electrical and gas practices, building codes, occupational hazards
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Professional attitude, Gas ACS qualifications, valid UK driving license
