Job summary

Citizen Housing Group in Birmingham is seeking a proactive Grounds Maintenance Operative (Gardener) to maintain our estates and outdoor spaces. The role involves grass cutting, hedges, waste disposal, and seasonal planting, using ride-on mowers, hedge cutters and strimmers.

You will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7:30–15:30 and Friday 7:30–15:00, with a permanent contract. A manual driving license is required as you may drive a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• Must be able to drive a manual company vehicle.
• Ability to work as part of a team to maintain outdoor spaces.

Responsibilities

• Take pride in delivering high-quality grass cutting across estates and communal areas.
• Responsible for safe removal and disposal of green waste.
• Prune shrubs and maintain borders to keep landscapes healthy and presentable.
• Use strimmers and powered tools for edging and polishing finishes.
• Perform weed control using approved methods to maintain estate appearance.
• Carry out seasonal planting and shrub maintenance.
• Maintain safe and clean estates through litter picking and tidying.
• Support upkeep of paved areas with light repairs and sweeping.
