Job Summary

To work in an established team, maintaining the green and open spaces at Canary Wharf to a high standard.

Salary: £31,938

Closing date: 27th May 2025

Main Responsibilities

  1. Maintain turf, bedding plant displays, hedges, shrubs, trees, and grass cutting; perform weeding, pest and disease control, and care for plants in atrium and office areas.
  2. Assist in landscape schemes involving ground preparation, planting, turfing, bulb planting, and other upkeep tasks.
  3. Have knowledge of pests and diseases and methods of control.
  4. Experience with controls and monitoring of automatic irrigation systems.
  5. Carry out tree and aerial hedge pruning; understand tree pests and diseases.
  6. Follow health and safety procedures, especially regarding pesticide use.
  7. Perform litter picking duties in landscape areas as directed.
  8. Work effectively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  9. Assist other departments during emergencies or low workload periods due to weather or seasonal changes.
  10. Communicate effectively with team members and Landscape Supervisor.
  11. Adhere to Method Statements & Risk Assessments.
  12. Take good care of all plants, vehicles, and equipment; report faults promptly.
  13. Demonstrate commitment to self-development.
  14. Be competent with mobile phone technology for task management.

Person Specification

  1. Experience in gardening (essential).
  2. Driving license (essential).
  3. PA1 & PA6 certifications (desirable).
  4. Experience with horticultural machinery.
  5. Horticultural qualifications (desirable).
