Job summary

Barrington Park Estate in the Cotswolds is seeking a Junior Gardener to maintain a Palladian mansion's gardens, including a walled kitchen garden, greenhouses, lawns, herbaceous borders, and woodland paths. This live-in role covers Mondays–Fridays with occasional weekend work in summer to open/close the greenhouse and watering.

The successful candidate will hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, be physically fit, a team player, and capable of working on their own initiative.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain walled kitchen garden, greenhouses and cutting garden.
• Keep extensive lawns tidy and well-manicured.
• Assist with herbaceous borders, fruit trees and orchard.
• Operate and maintain ride-on and pedestrian mowers; comply with health and safety.

Barrington Park is a Palladian mansion that sits at the heart of a large private estate in the Cotswolds.

The Gardens Cover Several Acres And Include

• Walled kitchen garden & greenhouses & cutting garden
• Extensive, well-maintained lawns
• Grass tennis court
• Herbaceous & shrub borders
• Paths & woodland walks
• Swimming pool
• Fruit trees & orchard

The Successful Candidate Will Need

• An NVQ Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
• To be physically fit, energetic and able to work on their own initiative.
• To be a team player with a love for gardening.
• To be flexible, self-motivated, open to new ideas, and be prepared to assist with other duties from time to time on the estate.
• To want to be a part of further developing these gardens.
• To be competent with machinery/equipment use and maintenance, including ride on mowers and pedestrian mowers (accreditation for health and safety compliance and a general knowledge of Health and Safety requirements are highly valued but not essential as training will be provided).

28 days holiday per annum, to include the Bank holidays.

Salary is competitive and there is a contribution to a pension.

Rent free accommodation will be provided.

It is a full-time job (Mondays to Fridays) and will include 1-2 hours some weekends in summer months to cover opening & closing greenhouse and watering
