Job summary

Ashford School is seeking a reliable Grounds Assistant to maintain lawns, flower beds, shrubs and outdoor spaces. You will work across seasons, keep paths safe, and support the Grounds Team with projects.

Flexible part-time hours and a friendly, supportive environment are offered. A DBS check will be required to safeguard pupils and staff, with emphasis on high standards and a positive, independent work approach.

Qualifications

• Previous gardening or grounds maintenance experience.
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
• Physically fit and able to carry equipment.

Job description

The successful candidate will assist with the upkeep of lawns, flower beds, shrubs, trees, and outdoor spaces, ensuring the grounds remain safe, attractive, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• General gardening and grounds maintenance.
• Lawn care including mowing, edging, and watering.
• Planting, pruning, weeding, and seasonal bed maintenance.
• Maintaining pathways and outdoor areas to a high standard.
• Supporting the Grounds Team with seasonal projects and landscaping tasks.
• Ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times.

The Successful Candidate Will:

• Have previous gardening or horticultural experience.
• Be hardworking, reliable, and able to work independently.
• Take pride in maintaining high standards.
• Be physically fit and willing to work outdoors in all seasons.
