Job summary

Kier Group in Paignton is seeking a Ganger to join our Southwest Water contract team. You will coordinate safe and efficient operations across repairs and maintenance services, working on mains laying, pressure management, district metering, and complex repairs.

This full-time role requires a full driving licence and water industry experience, with 45 hours weekly across Monday to Sunday. You will contribute to reliable water and wastewater services while supporting a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Have previous utilities experience, particularly in the water industry
• Hold a Full driving licence
• Possess NRSWA Operative, Water hygiene card, and SHEA water passport qualifications
• Are Cat & Genny trained
• Enjoy working collaboratively and building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Coordinating safe and efficient operations across repairs and maintenance services within the Natural Resources team
• Leading and directing a gang to establish safe working methodologies and ensure materials are available
• Conducting site risk assessments and communicating them to the team
• Organising and prioritising workload for the shift
• Ensuring works are completed to the required standard while maintaining safety at all times

Join our Southwest Water contract team where no two days are the same. As a Ganger, you'll play a vital role incoordinating safe and efficient operations across repairs and maintenance services. You'll be working on diverse schemes including mains laying, pressure management, district metering, and complex repairs, helping to deliver reliable water and wastewater services to communities across the region. What will you be responsible for?

As a Ganger, you'll be working within the Natural Resources team, supporting them in delivering high-quality water infrastructure projects. Your day to day will include:

• Collaborating with the Site Agent to establish safe working methodologies and ensure all plant and materials are available
• Conducting site risk assessments and clearly communicating these to your team
• Organising and prioritising the workload for your shift
• Leading and directing your team to achieve agreed activities safely and efficiently
• Ensuring all works are completed to the required standard whilst maintaining safety at all times
