Job summary

The Manchester College in Manchester is seeking a Game Art Teacher to join the Media Department on a permanent, full-time basis. You will plan and deliver Game Art and Development lessons, using industry-standard software, and support students toward successful outcomes.

You will be supported by our Teaching Academy to progress towards qualified teacher status for post-16 education, with mentoring and training as you grow in the role.

Qualifications

• Certificate of education or PGCE.
• Current and valid industry specialism.
• Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation).
• Minimum Level 3 occupational qualification.
• English and maths minimum level 2 Grade C or grade 4 and above.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Game Art and Development, covering topics such as game design principles.
• Instructing students in the use of industry-standard game development software such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Autodesk Maya, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Provide individualised support and feedback to students to enhance their learning experience.
• Develop and update curriculum materials to align with industry trends and best practices.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
• Conduct assessments adhering to internal and external verification processes.
• Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records of progress.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in the game development industry.

We have an exciting opportunity at our City Campus Manchester to join our Media Department as a Game Art Teacher on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) basis.

As a Game Art and Development Teacher you will Plan, lead, and develop the curriculum for your curriculum area, ensuring that you meet budget, quality, and operational targets. You will deliver a high quality, learner-focused education. Providing a secure and friendly environment to ensure students succeed whilst upholding compliance with the assigned curriculum framework.

At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post 16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3-4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £30,750 - £32,931*. It is a great way to kick-start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you've successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you'll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding.

*Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances*.
