Overview

Role: FURNITURE TECHNICIAN (LAB)

Location: Kettering, East Midlands, United Kingdom

Salary: £24,000 to £26,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the Role

Our client has a vacancy for a Lab Technician in their Furniture department, an international centre for furniture testing, training, consultancy, and innovation. The role involves testing furniture against national, European, and international standards to ensure safety and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation and conditioning of furniture prior to testing
  • Testing and assisting with physical testing of mattresses, cabinets, tables, and seating
  • Maintaining cleanliness of laboratory areas
  • Planning testing schedules with customers and the Head of Furniture
  • Completing and maintaining training records
  • Building customer relationships and hosting on-site visits
About You
Essential
  • GCSE Maths, English & Science minimum Grade C (Grade 5 or above)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Proficient in Word & Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow instructions accurately
  • Strong organisation, planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility, tenacity, and a positive attitude
Desirable
  • Experience in the furniture industry or testing consumer products
  • Mechanical Engineering qualifications
