Job summary

Travail-Employment-Group is seeking an experienced Furnace Operative for a specialist engineering company in the S9 area of Sheffield. The role offers a 4-day week, day shifts and an immediate start, with overtime available and progressive training.

Responsibilities include loading and unloading stainless steel into induction furnaces, monitoring temperatures, ensuring safety, conducting quality checks and maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• Experience as Furnace Operative or similar in heavy manufacturing.
• Ability to operate induction furnaces safely.
• Comfort with handling hot materials and using PPE.

Job description

£24,725 to £26,616 p/a DOE, Sheffield, 4 day working week, 35.3hrs per week, Monday-Thursday, day shifts, overtime available, immediate start.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Furnace Operative to join an innovative and specialist engineering company based in the S9 area of Sheffield.

Reporting to the Production Manager and working within a supportive and friendly team, day to day duties for the successful Furnace Operative will include:

• Loading and unloading stainless steel materials into and out of an induction furnace.
• Operating furnace equipment safely and efficiently in line with company procedures.
• Monitoring furnace temperatures and ensure materials are heated to the required specifications.
• Handling hot materials using appropriate tools and personal protective equipment.
• Carrying out quality checks on materials and report any defects or issues.
• Maintaining a clean and safe working area, following all health and safety procedures.

This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Furnace Operative, Melter, Melt Shop Operative, Metalworker, Forger, Metal Plater within a heavy manufacturing environment.
