Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is working with a leading engineering and metals business in Sheffield to recruit a Heat Treatment Operative. You will assist in the day-to-day running of the Heat Treatment Department, ensuring materials are processed with full traceability and safety compliance.

The role includes full training on procedures, materials handling equipment and safe systems of work, with a quarterly bonus scheme and opportunities for progression within a market-leading team.

Responsibilities

• Receive and despatch materials, ensuring full traceability throughout the process.
• Accurately identify materials before and after heat treatment.
• Highlight and report any material discrepancies or anomalies to management.
• Prepare and dismantle furnace charges in line with heat treatment instructions and reports.
• Support straightening and Brinelling processes to meet customer specifications and delivery requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and follow departmental administration procedures.
• Ensure materials are handled safely and stored correctly.
• Operate forklift trucks and side loaders following training and company procedures.
• Work to production deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
• Support housekeeping activities within the department.
• Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Promote safe working practices and encourage colleagues to do the same.

Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading Engineering & Metals business in Sheffield who are looking to recruit a Heat Treatment Operative to join their established team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join a specialist manufacturing environment, supporting the heat treatment process and ensuring materials are received, processed, identified and despatched accurately whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and traceability.

The Role

Reporting to the Heat Treatment Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the Heat Treatment Department. You will be responsible for the safe movement, identification and processing of customer materials, ensuring full traceability throughout the heat treatment cycle and supporting operational efficiency within the department.

Skills & Experience Required

• Forklift Truck or Side Loader experience would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
