Job summary

Co-op Group in Blyth is seeking a part-time Funeralcare crew member to support key funeral operations. The role includes preparing, transporting and caring for the deceased with professionalism, dignity and respect, alongside on-call weekend duties.

No previous funeral industry experience is required as full training and support are provided, plus access to competitive pay and extensive Co-op benefits. Applicants must hold a full UK manual driving licence and be able to perform physical tasks

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence required.
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (manual lifting). Training and equipment provided.
• Good IT skills and ability to learn new applications.
• Ability to stay calm and compassionate in emotional circumstances.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in line with policies.

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins on funeral day and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral.
• Keep client management records updated with timely information.
• Safely lift and move coffins using proper techniques and equipment.
