TeacherActive Limited. is seeking a Part-time Functional Skills Tutor to deliver Maths, English and Science in Alternative Provision and outreach settings in Nottingham. Start date is immediate, with ongoing long-term engagement and competitive PAYE rates.

The role focuses on supporting disengaged students, adapting lessons to individual needs, and helping learners progress academically within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths and English, with the ability to support Science learning.
• Experience working with disengaged students, Alternative Provision (AP) or students outside mainstream education.
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to adapt teaching to individual learning needs.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people.

Responsabilités

• Deliver tuition across AP and outreach settings.
• Primarily deliver Maths, English and Science sessions, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
• Manage challenging behaviours and support students to make meaningful academic progress.

Do you have experience delivering engaging Maths, English and Science lessons to students who struggle within mainstream education?

Are you patient, adaptable and confident in delivering personalised learning to students in Alternative Provision (AP) and outreach settings?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with an Alternative Provision supporting students who have become disengaged from mainstream education across Nottingham. The provision focuses on providing individualised learning opportunities, helping young people rebuild their confidence, develop essential skills and re-engage with education in a supportive environment.

We are looking to appoint a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor on a part-time, long-term basis, delivering tuition across AP and outreach settings. The successful Functional Skills Tutor will primarily deliver Maths, English and Science sessions, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs, managing challenging behaviours and supporting students to make meaningful academic progress.

The successful Functional Skills Tutor will have:

• A relevant teaching, tutoring or education qualification (desirable)
• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths and English, with the ability to support Science learning
• Experience working with disengaged students, Alternative Provision (AP) or students outside mainstream education
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to adapt teaching to individual learning needs
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people
• A patient, resilient and flexible approach to supporting students with barriers to learning
