Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a part-time Functional Skills Tutor to join our Nottingham-based alternative education provision, supporting pupils outside mainstream school. You will deliver targeted Functional Skills sessions and adapt your teaching to individual needs in 1:1 and small-group settings.

Immediate start available. The role focuses on engaging learners with varying educational and behavioural needs, helping them build knowledge, confidence and progress in education.

Qualifications

• A relevant teaching, tutoring or education qualification.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills or alternative education.
• Experience providing 1:1 and small group tuition.
• Experience supporting EOTAS pupils or young people with additional and behavioural needs.
• Ability to plan and adapt sessions to individual learning needs.
• Patient, resilient and engaging approach to teaching.

Job description

Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor

Location: Nottingham

Start Date: Immediate Start

Salary: £22 - £30 per hour

Are you an experienced Functional Skills Tutor who can engage young people outside of a traditional classroom environment?

Do you have experience delivering 1:1 and small group tuition to pupils accessing EOTAS provision?

Can you adapt your teaching approach to support young people with different educational, behavioural and additional needs?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with an alternative education provision in Nottingham supporting young people who access Education Other Than At School / EOTAS. The provision focuses on creating positive and engaging learning experiences, helping pupils who may find mainstream education challenging to rebuild confidence and make progress with their education.

The provision is looking to take on a part-time Functional Skills Tutor with an immediate start, delivering targeted 1:1 and small group tuition. The successful Functional Skills Tutor will plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills sessions, adapt learning to individual needs and support EOTAS pupils to develop their knowledge, confidence and engagement with education.

The successful Functional Skills Tutor will have:

• A relevant teaching, tutoring or education qualification
• Experience delivering Functional Skills or alternative education
• Experience providing 1:1 and small group tuition
• Experience supporting EOTAS pupils or young people with additional and behavioural needs
• The ability to plan and adapt sessions to individual learning needs
• A patient, resilient and engaging approach to teaching
