Job summary

Elite Executive Recruitment is seeking a committed Functional Skills Teacher to support learners who may struggle to engage in mainstream education. You will deliver Functional Skills Maths and English, from Entry Level to Level 2, adapting to individual needs and building confidence to progress.

This term-time role (41 weeks/year) offers a supportive setting focused on inclusive education, positive learner outcomes and preparing learners for employment, apprenticeships or further study.

Qualifications

• We’re looking for a committed and resilient teacher who can adapt their approach to help learners succeed.
• Experience planning and delivering Functional Skills Maths and English.
• Experience working with learners who have additional learning needs or behavioural challenges.
• Ability to differentiate learning and maintain calm, patient classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Functional Skills Maths and English lessons from Entry Level to Level 2.
• Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual learning needs and circumstances.
• Monitor progress through assessment, target setting and regular reviews.
• Build positive relationships to encourage attendance, engagement and achievement.
• Manage challenging behaviour and support learners’ confidence, independence and life skills.
• Collaborate with colleagues, families and other professionals to support learner progress.
