Job summary

KM Recruitment is recruiting a Vocational and Employability Tutor for a term-time position in Derby. The role focuses on mentoring and supporting learners, including those with SEN/SEND, delivering Employability Skills, Maths and English, and a vocational pathway at entry to level 2.

The post requires a Level 3 Teaching qualification and a Level 2 in Maths and English Functional Skills, with duties including creating ILPs, initial assessments, and arranging placement/work experience.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 3 Teaching qualification (AET/PTLLS)
• Hold a Level 2 in Maths and English Functional Skills
• Experience of supporting and delivering training to young people who have experienced barriers to their lives and education.
• Knowledge and understanding of the barriers young people face and how to develop support mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality learning programmes including Employability Skills, Personal and Social Development, Maths and English and vocational pathways from entry to level 2.
• Deliver to small groups of learners onsite.
• Create and update individual learning plans in line with EHCP targets.
• Ensure robust initial assessments to inform ILP and RARPA frameworks.
• Provide work experience opportunities aligned with learning programmes.
• Build supportive relationships and provide guidance throughout learners’ journeys.

Job Title: Functional Skills / Employability Tutor – Term Time Location: Derby Type: Full Time, Permanent – Term time only 45 weeks per annum Salary: £24,000 – £31,000 dependent on experience (Full Time Equivalent is £27,000 – £36,000) KM are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established Training Provider, who are seeking a Vocational and Employability Tutor who will play a vital role in mentoring and supporting learners, particularly those with additional needs (SEN / SEND). This is a rewarding opportunity to help young people build confidence, overcome barriers, and achieve their full potential.

Duties:

• Deliver high quality learning programmes to include; Employability Skills, Personal and Social Development, Maths and English and a Vocational certificate/ qualification pathway at entry level to level 2 (such as Business Admin; Customer Service; Retail; Hospitality; Health and Social Care; Childcare and more)
• Deliver to small groups of learners onsite.
• Work closely with learners to create and update individual learning plans in line with individual and EHCP targets.
• Ensure each learner receives a robust initial assessment in order to inform and update the ILP and RARPA framework.
• Ensure all students receive relevant work experience in line with their planned programme of learning.
• Build good relationships with learners offering support, advice and guidance throughout their learning journey.

Essential Criteria:

• Hold a level 3 Teaching qualification as a minimum such as AET/PTLLS
• Hold a Level 2 in Maths and English Functional Skills equivalent
• Experience of supporting and delivering training to young people who have experienced barriers to their lives and education.
• Knowledge and understanding of the multiple barriers young people face and be able to develop support mechanisms / interventions.
• Experience of delivering Functional Skills maths and English
