Job summary

Everpool Recruitment is seeking Functional Assessors for hybrid roles across England. You will use your clinical knowledge to assess how health conditions affect daily living and work, conducting telephone, video and face-to-face assessments and reviewing medical evidence.

Roles include PIP Functional Assessor (£40,000–£42,000 + bonus) or WCA Functional Assessor (£42,000–£43,000 + bonus). Training provided (12 weeks).

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of post-registration experience in an adult setting.
• Active NMC or HCPC registration for 1 year or more.
• Strong communication and assessment skills.
• Excellent report-writing and typing skills.
• Good IT skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage caseload.

Responsibilities

• Conduct telephone, video and face-to-face assessments.
• Explore how health conditions affect daily activities and work.
• Review medical evidence and health questionnaires.
• Ask detailed questions about functional ability.
• Produce clear, accurate reports for the DWP.
• Make recommendations based on assessment findings.

You’ll use your existing clinical knowledge and assessment skills in a new way, helping to assess how health conditions affect people’s everyday lives and ability to work.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need:

• At least 1 year of recent post-registration experience in a relevant adult setting
• At least 1 year of active NMC or HCPC registration
• Strong communication and assessment skills
• Excellent report-writing and typing skills
• Good IT skills
• The ability to work independently and manage your own caseloadSponsorship is not available for these roles.

Salary

PIP Functional Assessor

£40,000–£42,000 + excellent bonus scheme

Typically 3 assessments per day

WCA Functional Assessor

£42,000–£43,000 + excellent bonus scheme

Typically 5–6 shorter assessments per day

Roles are subject to availability and service requirements in each geographical area.

Ideally, candidates should be open to either PIP or WCA. Where possible, we may be able to accommodate a preference, although this cannot be guaranteed.

Successful candidates will complete a comprehensive 12-week training programme, covering:

• Assessment techniques
• DWP guidelines and requirements
• Report writing
• Functional assessment skills
• Role-specific training and supportYou don't need previous Functional Assessor experience — your clinical experience and transferable assessment skills are what matters.
