Job summary

Serco is seeking aFunctional Assessor in Weston-super-Mare to conduct health assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions. You will engage with customers by phone, in-person, or online, gathering information and producing fair reports to support decision-making.

Role requires post-registration clinical experience in nursing or allied health fields, active registration, and strong communication and IT skills. Hybrid work and comprehensive training are offered.

Qualifications

• One year of post-registration experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Pharmacist.
• Full registration with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC or equivalent), with an active PIN and no restrictions.
• Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to write concise, accurate reports.
• Good IT skills and the ability to work efficiently under time pressures.

Salary: £40,000 – £42,000 per year, with salary uplifts within the first 12 months.

Schedule: Full time and Part time opportunities. Monday – Friday, no nights or weekends.

As a Functional Assessor in our Health Assessment Advisory Service team, you’ll carry out meaningful work on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions to understand how a person’s health condition affects their daily life. Through fair, comprehensive assessments, you’ll help create a positive impact for millions of people.

This role gives Registered Nurses (RGN, RMN & RNLD), Physiotherapists, Paramedics, Occupational Therapists and Pharmacists the chance to use your clinical expertise in a new way. All our Functional Assessors must successfully complete the full pre‑employment security screening process, including an Enhanced DBS check, before starting in role.
