Job summary

Serco Limited in Southampton is seeking a Functional Assessor to support the Department for Work and Pensions by conducting functional health assessments and producing insightful reports that reflect how health conditions affect daily living. You will engage with customers by phone or in person, consult with clinicians, and contribute to streamlined processes.

The role requires post-registration clinical experience, current PIN, and strong communication and IT skills.

Qualifications

• One year of post-registration experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Pharmacist.
• Full registration with a UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC or equivalent) with an active PIN.
• Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to write concise, accurate reports.
• Good IT skills and the ability to work efficiently under time pressures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out functional health assessments and gather accurate, detailed information.
• Consult with treating healthcare professionals where appropriate.

This role gives Registered Nurses (RGN, RMN & RNLD), Physiotherapists, Paramedics, Occupational Therapists and Pharmacists the chance to use your clinical expertise in a new way. • One year of post‑registration experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Pharmacist.
• Full registration with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC or equivalent), with an active PIN and no restrictions.
• Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to write concise, accurate reports.
• Good IT skills and the ability to work efficiently under time pressures.

Vetting and checks: All our Functional Assessors must successfully complete the full pre‑employment security screening process, including an Enhanced DBS check, before starting in role.
