Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for long-term placements across West Sussex and Surrey. You will support classroom teachers in delivering literacy, phonics and numeracy, and provide 1:1 SEN support.

This role runs full-time, Monday to Friday, with term-time holidays. Ideal candidates have strong communication, a patient and proactive approach, and hold or are willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS (Update Service).

Qualifications

  • Full-time availability Monday–Friday during standard school hours.
  • Experience supporting children in schools, nurseries, sports coaching, care, or youth work.
  • Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Right to work in the UK with reliable transport across West Sussex and Surrey.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in literacy, phonics and numeracy.
  • Lead small group interventions.
  • Provide 1:1 learning support for SEN pupils (ASD, ADHD, or speech and language delays).
  • Help create an inclusive, safe learning environment throughout the day.
  • Assist with classroom preparation, displays and break-time monitoring.

Full-Time Teaching Assistant - Long-Term Placements (West Sussex & Surrey)

We are seeking dedicated and dependable Teaching Assistants to join our network of partner primary, secondary, and SEN schools across West Sussex and Surrey. What Your Role Will Involve
  • Working full-time hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM) alongside class teachers to maintain smooth daily routines.
  • Leading small group interventions in core literacy, phonics, and numeracy.
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 learning support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, or speech and language delays.
  • Helping create an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment throughout the school day.
  • Supporting classroom preparation, learning displays, and break-time monitoring.
Qualifications
  • Full Monday to Friday availability during standard school hours.
  • Prior experience supporting children or young people (in schools, nurseries, sports coaching, care, or youth work).
  • A patient, proactive, and resilient approach to pupil support.
  • Strong communication skills and confident foundational English and Maths.
  • An Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Right to work in the UK and reliable transport links across West Sussex and Surrey.
