Job summary

Five Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a well-resourced special school in Bridgwater. The role involves 1:1 and small-group pupil support throughout the school day, including working with learners with SEND and mental health needs.

Ideal candidates have TA/LSA experience or similar backgrounds; passion, resilience, and strong communication are essential. DBS Update Service required or willing to apply, with a £62.70 DBS cost refundable after 20 days of work.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA) or similar roles.
• SEND experience desirable but not essential if transferable skills are shown.
• Ability to work with pupils with SEND and mental health needs.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
• Assist with learning activities and adapt tasks to pupil needs.
• Help pupils remain focused, calm and regulated throughout the day.
• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, speech and language needs, sensory needs and behavioural challenges.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils and staff to maximise learning.
• Create and maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment.
