Job summary

Engage Education is recruiting a Positive Behaviour Assistant for a school in Lancing, supporting pupils across primary and secondary settings with SEMH and behavioural needs.

The role requires an outgoing, nurturing approach, resilience with challenging behaviours, and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils. Training will be provided; full-time, long-term with potential for permanence.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH, challenging behaviour, attachment or trauma is desirable.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils across ages.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across primary and secondary settings with SEMH and behavioural needs.
• Work flexibly across age groups according to school needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a role model.
• Use strategies to support distressed or dysregulated pupils, including de-escalation.
• Support positive behaviour and keep pupils engaged in learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to minimise disruption.
• Encourage confidence, resilience and independence in pupils.
• Provide feedback to teachers and the wider school team.
