Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Science Technician for a brilliant secondary school in Canterbury to support the science department and ensure laboratories, equipment and resources are prepared for lessons.

The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high standards of safety and operation in the labs, supporting teachers with practical lessons and managing resources. This is a full-time, long-term post with start date ASAP.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Science Technician in a school is essential.
• Experience working in a secondary school laboratory.
• Strong understanding of laboratory health and safety.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
• Practical and methodical approach to tasks.
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS (or already held).

Responsibilities

• Prepare practical experiments and demonstrations.
• Set up laboratory equipment and resources.
• Prepare chemicals and materials safely.
• Support teachers with practical lessons.
• Maintain laboratories and preparation rooms.
• Clean and store scientific equipment.
• Order and replenish resources.
• Check equipment for damage or faults.
• Maintain laboratory records.
• Follow COSHH and health and safety procedures.
• Ensure practical activities are prepared safely and efficiently.
