Job summary

Westfield Arts College in Dorset is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Caretaker to join our busy school team. This role is 37 hours per week with split shifts Mon–Thu 07:00–10:30 and 14:30–18:30, Fri 07:00–10:30 and 14:30–18:00, and requires a full clean driving licence.

You will help ensure the security, safety and day-to-day maintenance of the site, support the cleaning team, carry out health and safety checks, and liaise with contractors and service providers.

Qualifications

• Good practical maintenance skills and understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Ideally previous experience in a similar role.
• Be proactive, well organized and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Ensure security, safety and day-to-day maintenance of the school site.
• Carry out repairs, maintenance and improvement works.
• Support cleaning team to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
• Carry out routine health and safety checks and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Liaise with contractors and external service providers as required.
