Job summary

Preqin, part of BlackRock, seeks an experienced software engineer for its London Engineering team. You will build scalable backend services in Python and .NET, and create intuitive frontend experiences with React and TypeScript in a cloud-first SaaS environment.

The role offers a hybrid work model with in-office days in London, collaboration across international teams, and exposure to modern CI/CD practices and data-centric technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Organizational Sciences, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience developing backend applications with Python and .NET, and frontend with React and TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering, OOP, and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Build new features end-to-end from concept to production deployment and support.
  • Develop and maintain scalable backend services using Python and .NET, and front-end with React and TypeScript.
  • Own components of a SaaS platform including production monitoring, support, and incident resolution in cloud environments.
  • Apply information security principles across design, development, testing, and deployment.

Job description

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We require a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Organizational Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • We require demonstrated experience developing backend applications with Python and .NET, together with frontend development using modern frameworks such as React and TypeScript.
  • We require a strong understanding of software engineering principles, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, and best practices, combined with strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • We require experience designing, building, and integrating APIs using REST, gRPC, and modern microservices-based architectures.
  • We require experience working within existing codebases and contributing to the deployment of cloud-native applications.
  • We require strong communication skills in English and an interest in understanding business and product domains; experience in financial services is beneficial.
  • We require familiarity with data technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, and Snowflake.
  • Nice to have: experience with Java development.
  • Nice to have: experience with GraphQL APIs and application integrations.
  • Nice to have: exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Nice to have: familiarity with enterprise-grade container orchestration platforms supporting declarative infrastructure and horizontal scaling.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with modern DevOps practices and cloud-native engineering approaches.
Responsibilities:

  • We collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client and business needs.
  • We contribute to the design and evolution of cloud-native, distributed systems and modern application architectures.
  • We apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine curiosity with rigor to challenge results.
