Job summary

Monument in London seeks a capable Full Stack Engineer to own mobile and web platforms, building scalable, secure apps with a strong AI-first approach. You will work across front-end and back-end, partner with Product and Data teams, and contribute to a regulated financial services environment.

You will design, implement and monitor solutions with modern tooling, leveraging React, Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL and AWS, while focusing on performance and compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven full-stack experience delivering production-ready apps using React, Node.js and AWS.
• Hands-on mobile development experience (iOS/Android) or React Native for mobile-first work.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful and GraphQL APIs, serverless architectures and CI/CD pipelines.
• Comfort with TypeScript and modern JS tooling, cloud-native ecosystems.
• Track record of using data/experimentation to guide technical and product decisions.
• Experience with AI-powered engineering tools and applying AI first approaches.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy and scale mobile apps across front-end and back-end with ownership from architecture to production monitoring.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and Data to define problems and ship solutions quickly.
• Apply AI-first engineering using tools like GitHub Copilot and AI agents to speed development while ensuring quality.
• Instrument systems to track performance and user behavior for data-driven decisions.
• Contribute to product strategy by identifying opportunities for tech innovation and automation.
• Ensure reliability, scalability and compliance in a regulated financial services environment.
• Help define engineering standards and practical patterns for the team as it grows.
• Champion simple, intuitive designs and robust interfaces for clients.

Requirements

• We bring proven full-stack engineering experience delivering production-ready applications using React, Node.js and AWS on web and mobile platforms.
• We have hands‑on experience with iOS or Android native development, or React Native for mobile‑first product work.
• We have a strong working knowledge of RESTful and GraphQL APIs, serverless architectures and CI/CD pipelines.
• We are comfortable in TypeScript and JavaScript, with experience in cloud‑native ecosystems and modern tooling.
• We have a track record of using data and experimentation to guide technical and product decisions.
• We have demonstrable experience with AI‑powered engineering tools, with a considered approach to where they add genuine value.
• We have experience working in agile, product‑led teams where speed, collaboration and ownership are the norm.
• We have familiarity with UK GDPR data handling obligations and an understanding of what it means to build in a regulated environment.
• Experience with event‑driven systems and database technologies such as PostgreSQL or DynamoDB is advantageous.
• Exposure to financial services, fintech or other regulated environments is a plus but not a requirement.

Responsibilities

• We build, deploy and scale high‑quality, secure and maintainable mobile applications across front‑end and back‑end systems, with full ownership of our code from architecture through to production monitoring.
• We collaborate closely with Product, Design and Data colleagues to define problems, shape hypotheses and ship working solutions at pace.
• We apply an AI‑first approach to engineering, using tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot and AI agents to accelerate development, testing and ideation without compromising quality or security.
• We instrument everything we build, tracking performance, behaviour and conversion to inform data‑driven decisions on what to build next.
• We contribute to product strategy by identifying opportunities for technical innovation and automation across our digital experiences.
• We ensure operational excellence across our work, building for reliability, scalability and compliance in a regulated financial services environment.
• We help define and evolve engineering standards, architecture patterns and development best practices as the team scales.
• We champion simplicity in design and implementation, building systems and interfaces that are intuitive, elegant and frictionless for clients.
