University of Sheffield is seeking a proactive Software Developer to support development, maintenance, and operation of our modern software applications. You will work with senior technical leads to build responsive interfaces, integrate APIs, and support cloud-native architectures.

You will gain hands-on experience across a tech stack including React, Next.js, Azure, MongoDB, PostgresDB, and AI integrations, while following CI/CD and secure coding practices. Hybrid working options may apply.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience developing responsive web applications using React, Next.js, or Modern.js and MUI.
• Experience with RESTful API design, OpenAPI specifications, or authentication frameworks (e.g., Better Auth).
• Familiarity with querying relational or non-relational databases (PostgresDB, MongoDB).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services, Container Apps, or Databricks.
• Experience with Git/Azure DevOps for version control, automated build processes, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Awareness of or interest in AI/LLM model integrations (e.g., Claude, Gemini).

Responsabilités

• Full-Stack Application Development: Build, test, and maintain responsive web interfaces and features using Next.js, React, and MUI.
• API & Database Implementation: Build and maintain secure API endpoints and manage PostgresDB and MongoDB data tasks.
• Cloud & Platform Operations: Support deployment and monitoring on Azure, Container Apps, and Databricks.
• AI & CI Workflows: Integrate AI/LLM workflows into services using Azure DevOps for automation.
• Testing & Technical Support: Perform unit/integration tests, debug, and document code.
• Collaborative Delivery: Work with leads to deliver tasks on schedule and communicate progress.
