Job summary

Bluecrest Wellness is seeking a Full Stack Engineer in Portsmouth to build and improve web platforms used by thousands daily. You will work across the stack with Next.js, React, Angular on the front end and PHP/Laravel/Symfony on the back end, within an Agile team delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Solid commercial experience as a full stack developer.
• Good knowledge of Object Orientated coding and SOLID Principles.
• Recent use of PHP frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
• Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3 and associated technologies, including accessibility and WCAG standards.
• Extensive knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL.
• Proven experience building and maintaining performant APIs and integrating them with frontend applications to deliver features end to end.
• Strong understanding of version control (Git) / proficient with code versioning tools.
• Prior working experience in Agile methodologies.
• Experience with automated testing (Cypress/Playwright) and observability tools (Sentry/New Relic) across frontend and backend.
• Comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of secure coding practices (OWASP, input validation, authentication).
• A team player with high energy and can-do attitude, able to work well within a team.
• Versatile and adaptable, able to present alternatives and learn new skills quickly.
• Friendly, communicative team member with good collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of AI CLI tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Kiro).
• Familiar with TDD and feature-flag deployments (LaunchDarkly).
• Experience with Tailwind CSS and monorepos.
• Experience with cloud and containerisation technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, AWS).
• Experience with Ionic Capacitor.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and demonstrate clear understanding of security principles for modern web apps.
• Write clean, modular, maintainable code and follow coding standards and secure delivery policies.
• Work with frameworks and codebases to resolve issues and perform code reviews.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Troubleshoot, debug and triage issues to ensure smooth operation of applications.
• Maintain proficiency with required toolsets for day-to-day duties.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Engineering Manager to deliver features.
• Engage with team to determine best practices and client requirements.
