Job description

At Mercury, we're redefining how recruitment and staffing firms use technology. Our cloud-based SaaS platform, built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform, helps businesses automate, scale, and perform at their best.

Founded in 2014, we've grown rapidly into a global organisation with teams across the UK, US, Australia and Japan. Our growth is powered by innovation and driven by people who care about doing great work. We believe in building technology that changes how the industry works and in creating an environment where talented people can do their best work every day.

What you'll do

As a Full Stack Developer at Mercury, you'll play a key role in developing and enhancing the software that underpins our market-leading SaaS platform.

You'll join a collaborative team made up of four Full Stack Developers and two QA Engineers, all working together to design and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

Working in an Agile, cross-functional environment, you'll contribute to the ongoing development of Mercury's web portals and supporting services, balancing front-end and back-end development while helping to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Use modern development practices and AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to support productivity, code quality and efficient software delivery.
  • Build cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies, including Service Bus, queues and messaging patterns.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to translate user stories into functional, scalable and high-performing applications.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, refinement and retrospectives, contributing ideas that improve how the team works.
  • Conduct code reviews and apply clean coding principles to support quality and maintainability.
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable web applications and RESTful APIs using C# and .NET, including .NET Core and .NET Framework.
  • Work closely with QA Engineers to ensure deliverables meet performance, security and quality standards.

What we’re looking for

You'll be someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment and takes pride in writing clean, efficient and scalable code. You'll bring strong technical capability, a collaborative mindset and a willingness to embrace modern development practices and tools.

  • Proven commercial software development experience, with strong back-end expertise using C# and .NET, including .NET Core and .NET Framework.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud services, including Service Bus, queues and messaging patterns.
  • Familiarity with source control systems such as Git or TFVC and experience using Azure DevOps.
  • An understanding of unit-testing frameworks such as MSTest or NUnit and related mocking techniques.
  • Experience working within an Agile or Scrum environment, contributing positively to Agile ways of working and continuous improvement.
  • Strong critical-thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to assess challenges logically and recommend practical solutions.
  • A collaborative approach, with clear communication skills and the ability to contribute positively to the team.
  • The ability to adapt constructively when priorities or requirements change.
  • The role may suit an established mid-level Developer or an experienced Junior Developer who is already operating at, or ready to progress into, a mid-level position. A university degree is not required, provided you can demonstrate the relevant commercial development experience and technical capability.

Don't need to tick every box, but we'd be particularly interested if you have:

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or similar technologies, to support coding, testing, problem-solving and software delivery.
  • Knowledge of microservices and distributed systems.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and secured web applications.
  • An understanding of software design patterns and SOLID principles.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dataverse, Dynamics 365 or the Power Platform.

Previous experience with AI-assisted development is advantageous rather than essential. However, you'll need to be open to using these tools responsibly as part of your day-to-day development work.
